Have you guys seen the cool website Living Mysore? It’s a new Ashtanga-focused site, with a specific emphasis on the experience of living in Mysore, India, the home of Ashtanga founder Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his well-attended yoga school which serves as the Ashtanga mecca for students worldwide. Living Mysore’s intention is to “build the Ashtanga community online” and to help Ashtanga enthusiasts connect with one another.

Living Mysore offers an online message board on which people can to ask questions and offer advice about life in Mysore. The list of topics covered is thorough, ranging from where to find organic produce in Mysore to tips on finding housing to ideas for day trip destinations around the Mysore area. If you have a Mysore-related question or Mysore-related wisdom to share, you should log on and contribute to this new forum!

Living Mysore also offers a great monthly online magazine that is focused on Mysore and the practice of Ashtanga Yoga. It includes accounts of living in Mysore, recipes, Ashtanga teacher interviews, service opportunities in Mysore, health news, tips on leading a more eco-friendly life, and more.

The site also has a “Fun Stuff” section, in which they are currently featuring a semi-bizarre video shot on location in Mysore that is set to the song “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen and which appears to feature Ashtanga-practicing males flirting with Ashtanga-practicing females while lounging by a pool. Random!

If you’re an Ashtanga practitioner (or if you’re a yoga student in general, or if you have any interest in living in India, or if you’d just like to see a cool new website), you should give Living Mysore a look-see!
