In addition to our piece on the death and legacy of the beloved Guruji of Ashtanga Yoga Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, here is a collection of some other resources which you might find helpful:
-**UPDATE! The KPJAYI added the following announcement to their website this morning (5/19/09):

The shala will be closed until Sunday, June 7. Class will resume on Monday, June 8. School credit or partial refund will be given to current students.
-The official website of the Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI) provides pertinent updates straight from Jois’ family in Mysore.
-ElephantJournal has a thorough post on Guruji’s passing, complete with excerpts from other sites and some classic, vintage video footage.
-Yoga Journal has yet to release an official obituary, but they have posted about Jois’ death on their Yoga Buzz Blog.
-Here is an excerpt from a bulk email written this morning by Kausthub Desikachar, grandson of the legendary yoga guru (and Pattabhi Jois’ teacher) T. Krishnamacharya:
The Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation, as well as Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, will be organizing a prayer in his honor on the 19 May 2009, at 6:00 pm at the premises of the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram. We invite everyone to come and participate. TKV Desikachar, who is in Tennessee currently, will organize a prayer meeting there with his group of students. At this difficult moment, it is the best gift we can offer his family. Please feel free to pass this message to your friends and students.
-We wonder if and when we will hear from the venerable B.K.S. Iyengar on this major development in the yoga world.
-And lastly, for those of you who are local Santa Barbarans like us, here is an email message which was just sent out this afternoon by our own SB-based Ashtanga teacher Steve Dwelley:
Hello All:It is with a sad heart that we would like to let you know that our beloved Guruji, Shri K. Patabhi Jois, passed away at 1 am this morning, Monday May 18th, in Mysore, India. He was 93.Guruji’s willingness to carry this tradition throughout his life, including years of little interest by the general populace, is a major factor in the yoga that is now practiced by so many of us throughout the world, Ashtanga and otherwise. We feel immense gratitude for his joyful life.We will be leaving a little alter to him at the Yoga Center for the next few days and those so inclined are welcome to bring cut flowers to place by his picture, in room 2.Namaste,Steve DwelleyAshtanga Yoga Santa Barbara
