mother jones article“Organic and Local is So 2008″. This is the title of  a provocative article on food policy by Paul Roberts in Mother Jones!  The article’s bi-line reads: “Our industrial food system is rotten to the core.  Heriloom arugula won’t save us.  Here’s what will.“  The gist of the article is that despite the many voices claiming that local and organic food will save us, this would actually be an impractical, unsustainable model if it were applied on a global scale.  Instead, Roberts suggests that we open our minds to new, improved farming practices which can produce food that is 80% (rather than 100%) organic, but which can be applied on a broad, world-wide scale and will, in the end, benefit more people.  Check it out to educate yourself on some of the newest, cutting-edge food thought!
