Brett Dennen Interviewed by Politico

Friday, 24 October, 2008

Brett DennenBrett Dennen, a favorite upcoming musician of ours whom we’ve repeatedly plugged for the past two years, was just interviewed by the well-known website Politico.  The interview coincides with the exciting release of Dennen’s new album, “Hope for the Hopeless” (how many of you are now going to go out and buy that new album this very instant?)

Anywho, if you’re a Brett Dennen fan – and even if you’ve never heard of him before – you should check out his interview, headlined “Politics and Sharpies” (because according to Dennen, Sharpies are something that he actually shares in common with John McCain).  Here’s an excerpt:

“INTERVIEWER: Yes, I saw those guitars on your website.  … Now, did you do that with a marker?

BD: It’s color Sharpies®, because they are permanent, and if you put any paint on a guitar, unless it’s like a really good staining pigment, it would stain the wood. But using ink is a much easier way to do it.

Plus, John McCain uses Sharpies®. You’ve seen him at all of the debates, when he’s writing notes, he’s always using one. I don’t know why, maybe its permanent, or maybe it’s bolder for his eyes.

I think Sharpies® are for everybody. They are bipartisan.”
