Plastics and the harmful effects they have on human health are finally receiving scientific and media attention. We recently read yet another probing article on the plastic “epidemic”, as it’s being called by some experts. Why an epidemic, you might ask? Because cancer rates are higher today than they’ve ever been, and many researchers are suggesting that this drastic increase is directly correlated to the mass proliferation of plastics into our lives over the past few decades. Children are especially at risk because their bodies are still developing and quite vulnerable, and pound-for-pound they ingest more food, drink, and air than adults. Which brings us to the aforementioned intriguing article, this time from CNN (the last one that we posted about was in the LA Times.) Click here to read it.
Amidst this dialogue about plastics and their toxicity, we’re happy to announce that we are now carrying the excellent product Klean Kanteen at Drishti, the stainless steel alternative to plastic water bottles (which, by the way, include Nalgenes!) We were fortunate enough to be introduced to Klean Kanteen by Stan and Jenny Betters, two Santa Barbara yoga students who read our previous post on plastics and thought we might take an interest in the product. Click here to check it out!

Glad to see that you’re getting behind the wonderful Klean Kanteen, too. It’s really a great product whose time has come and I hope your blog will help bring more attention to this wonderful accessory.
