We’re guessing your answer to this most attention-grabbing of questions is a big fat nooooo.
Are we right? But we thought, hey: if you perhaps practice some sort of high-impact/’contact’ style of yoga (the existence of which would be news to us, but you never know…), you might be interested in a little headline that just broke regarding athletic cups.
Also, many people who practice yoga are actual athletes of some type in their non-yoga lives, and they might very well use athletic cups while practicing their sport of choice. (Think of all of the Yoga for Athletes workshops you hear about, and those studly pro-football player guys who report in interviews that they practice yoga on the side to improve their game. Right??)
Anywho, to get to the point, Under Armour, the huge athletic undergarment company, just announced that they are recalling 211,000 athletic cups from the market because they have been revealed to be breakable. Under Armour has received five reports of cups breaking when hit, and in one of these instances, cuts and bruises occured. OUCH, guys!!!
These 211,000 cups were manufactured in – guess where? – China. The company has stated that consumers should stop using any Under Armour cup purchased between January 2006 and March 2009 “immediately”. And if you own one of these recalled products, you can contact Under Armour for a $20 voucher toward other Under Armour items.
We’ve heard that Under Armour is a reputable company and all, but someone has to say it: if it breaks easily, is it really armour?
