Iyengar Yoga Studio of Santa Barbara, owned and operated by SB-based Iyengar instructor Richard McLaughlin and his wife Emma-Jane Huerta, opened its doors this past Saturday, September 1st. They were greeted by an amazingly full opening class and have high hopes for their exciting new venture. IYSSB is the first yoga studio in Santa Barbara to dedicate itself solely to Iyengar-style yoga. B.K.S. Iyengar himself actually personally approved the new studio and allowed Richard and Emma-Jane to use his name for the business. Proceeds from their opening class will also be donated to a high school for girls in the Indian village of Bellur, which Mr. Iyengar is currently building.
