Detoxing with Seane Corn Day #2: A Katie Elliott Report!

Sunday, 1 February, 2009

Here’s is Katie’s report on Day #2 of the recent Seane Corn workshop which took place at SBYC last weekend:

Day Two with Seane Corn

So day one we detoxed and now we’re back for just some good ‘ol fashioned vinyasa yoga with the lovely Seane Corn. For me, the draw to do a yoga class lead by Seane was not just the fact that she is an “internationally celebrated yoga teacher” but because she is such an amazing person. Sure, she is an amazing yogini and can lead a kick butt yoga sequence but this tiny woman with a Jersey accent and glorious hair also has something to say. She has amazing stories and insights and has the power to motivate and inspire you with her words. She gives you yoga for your body and for your spirit.

I suppose one of the reasons she is this way is because she lives her yoga. Seane is the National Yoga Ambassador for YouthAIDS, co-creator of Off the Mat, Into the World, and co-founder of “Bare Witness” Humanitarian Tours. She also created the yoga program at “Children of the Night,” a shelter that houses and educates adolescent prostitutes. She practices what she preaches and it makes for one heck of a yoga class.
It was a great two day workshop held at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center and if she’s back any time soon, she’s a teacher I highly recommend. And don’t worry, for any of you that happen to just want a good workout at this point in your yogic path….yaowzers, hip openers that will bring a tear to your eye……
