Last night Yoga Soup held its 2-year anniversary party, and we were there to help celebrate! The gathering was bustling with friendly, chatty people and provided a warm, open scene which contrasted nicely with the chilly rain falling outside. The Yoga Soup space, which is colorful to begin with, was decorated with even more colorful fabric pieces and strings of light. A large red sculpture of a number “2″ (a conversation piece for sure) was on display in the center of the room. A generous potluck spread was set up underneath a tent outside, and offerings of raisins, pistachios, and other tasty snacks were available throughout the inside of the studio. By our estimates there seemed to be at least 125 people in attendance (Yoga Soup themselves might have a more accurate figure.)
The highlight of the evening was a major raffle which served to unify the crowd’s attention and allowed Eddie Ellner, Yoga Soup owner, to give a gracious mini-speech of thanks and acknowledgment to the large, supportive community which his studio has created and fostered. He then proceeded to raffle off over 40 (!) items, all of which had been generously donated by local businesses, yoga teachers, and bodyworkers. (Raffle items included gift certificates to Avia Spa, Le Reve Spa, Sojourner Restaurant, and Drishti (whoo-hoo!), private yoga sessions with Emily Kligerman, Kristen Hoye, Eddie Ellner, Siddhi Ellinghoven, and Sarah Kane, bodywork sessions with Asia Warren, Arturo Peal, and Grace Purell, and much more!)
After the raffle, a DJ started playing dance music in the actual yoga studio (a separate room from the main gathering space), which was decorated with strings of lights and two trampolines!
All-in-all, the Yoga Soup Birthday Party was a great community-oriented event, the likes of which Yoga Soup is becoming increasingly known and respected for. Here are some photos from the party:
