Have you heard about prAna’s recently-released revolutionary new yoga product aptly named the Revolution Natural Sticky Mat? prAna is attempting to make quite a splash in the yoga mat market with this new creation. It was designed in conjunction with Anusara Yoga-creator John Friend, and the buzz coming out of prAna headquarters is that this is the best yoga mat ever created. prAna is using their tie to the highly-respected John Friend to further promote this mat. They recently took out a full-page ad in the Yoga Journal which features a very blissful-looking John Friend along with a personal letter that he wrote endorsing the mat. Here’s a small-ish image of the ad:

Well, because we are a respected yoga boutique (Drishti) which stays on top of the yoga product industry
, we decided to order these brand-spankin’-new mats for our store. We just received our first shipment of them the other day, and we have to say that we’re impressed with prAna’s new offering. Part of what’s so “revolutionary” about the mat is that it is a full 30″ wide (i.e. 2 1/2 feet!) – whooooa. It’s also a freaking 78″ long, which is 10″ longer than a standard yoga mat. Additionally, the mat has a great anti-slip feel and it’s clear that its durability factor is extremely high. Plus, it’s an all-natural, biodegradable mat made from rubber sources, and you certainly can’t go wrong with that. Oh yeah, the price of this mat is another aspect worth pointing out – it’s a spendy $90, which is justifiable if you truly believe that the Revolution Yoga Mat is the best mat on the market.
We have always been partial to the awesome company Manduka, whose mats are of the highest quality, both construction-wise and eco-integrity-wise. We find it interesting to see that prAna has chosen to step into what has traditionally been Manduka’s territory: the super duper ultra yoga mat market. (We just made that term up – do you like it?) If prAna’s yoga mat experiences a significant amount of popularity, we truly hope that this won’t put a damper on Manduka’s sales. We heart Manduka!

I think I’ll wait another ten years, I think that’s how long it will probably take for my Manduka black mat to wear out, those things are like iron. However, as a taller-than-average person, I like the idea of those extra ten inches. Next time I have an extra $99 lying around I might have to give in and buy one. From you, of course!
