Hawaii is a famously amazing place to visit, but here are just a few of the awesome things Candice experienced while she was there this May. Now you can start to plan your own Hawaiian adventure!

KAUAI (North Shore)

Afternoon dip at Anini Beach. Unbelievably calm, turquoise waters in a shallow inlet. Just walk out and dunk. And there's shade. Believe me, you don't want to spend even a few unprotected hours in the Hawaiian sun – not worth it!

Morning coffee and waffles at Hanalei Roasting Co. This waffle had papaya AND bananas on it – that counts for fruit, right?? ;)

Helicopter ride. Some of the most breathtaking natural beauty I've ever seen. Here's a picture of the Napali Coast from above.

Spectacular hiking. I love to hike, and I felt like I died and went to heaven.

Sunset cocktails at the St. Regis. Such pretty views overlooking Hanalei Bay, and I even made friends while I was there. :}

It was a dream week, but soon it was time to meet up with my boyfriend Kyle on

HAWAII (the Big Island)

Volcanoes National Park.Here, we saw the open mouth of a smoking crater, hiked through tropical forests, and even went inside a hollowed out LAVA TUBE, which is exactly as rad as it sounds.

TheMauna Lani Resort.We didn't originally book a stay at a resort, because we wanted to see the “real Hawaii.” But through a strange turn of events, we ended up staying at this one for two nights. It was ridiculously fun. I mean, just look at it!

Ocean kayakingto Captain Cook's monument, where you can snorkel in an amazingly healthy coral reef with all manner of tropical fish. Have you ever been snorkeling? It's SO cool. Here we are at the monument, where Captain Cook met his untimely demise.

Pololu Valley.This place is just awesome. Even the overlook has jaw-dropping beauty to offer, but if you want more, a short but steep trail takes you down to a magical black sand beach!

Yummy fruits at Serenity Bed and Breakfast. Each morning, we were treated to a spread like this: papaya boats, fresh pineapple, lychee fruit, macadamia nuts, and banana bread.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetA-Bay Beachhas an iconic sunset scene. You can walk past Lava Java restaurant, which has live Hawaiian music and hula. We saw people getting married on the beach (of course). We didn't see any turtles, but we were unexpectedly greeted by about 20 friendly feral cats who have colonized this beach! And for cat-lovers, that's just as good. :} You can learn more about the kitties of A-Bay here.

IMG_5083Aloha for now, Hawaii! I hope to see you again soon.
