Somatic coaching works directly with the body and nervous system, where stress, tension and old patterns are often held. Rather than approaching change through thought alone, it helps you build awareness of what your body is carrying and develop the capacity to release it, so change takes hold at a deeper level.
Every client's journey is different. Sessions begin with a conversation about what brings you in, and Dr. Kelsey then draws from a range of somatic approaches tailored to your needs. These may include body awareness and tracking practices, grounding and nervous system regulation techniques, breathwork, guided movement, mindfulness and meditation, and sound or Reiki as a session enhancement.
For many people, somatic coaching is cumulative, with each session building on the one before it. Your growth continues between sessions as well. Every client receives a client workbook and a personalized Google Classroom to guide their practice and support their progress throughout the process.
Dr. Kelsey Evans-Amalu is the founder of The Mindful Prof. She holds a Ph.D. in Education, is an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher and a Certified Integrative Somatic Practitioner, and is certified in meditation, Reiki and life coaching. Her work combines research with embodied practice, and in addition to private clients she leads mindfulness and somatic programs for school districts and organizations across Florida.
Somatic coaching is not a substitute for medical or mental health care.
